Aftab Ahmed
Aftab Ahmed is our main artisan that works with glass bead jewelry. He resides in hapur, a town 55 kilometers from Moradabad city. He only works with women artisans, there are 10 women who are directly employed by him and about 40-50 other women that work from their houses. According to him, “working with Noah's Ark increased his freedom to provide better and higher wages to his artisans and they are now able to send their children to school”.

Ahtesham is based out of Saratarai, about 35 kilometeres from Moradabad. His speciality is in Horne and Bone items such as: Photo Frame and Jewelry. He has been working with Noah's Ark for the last 8 years. His workshop is located in a very backward Muslim area where there are poor working conditions. Noah's Ark has provided training to him and his employees about Fair Trade and Sustainability which have improved his working conditions drastically.

Anwar Saleem
Anwar Saleem's workshop is located in Moradabad, his main expertise is in the area of Lanterns/Lamps/Coloring. He is incharge of coloring/lacquoring and also manufactures many lanterns for Noah's Ark. He currently employs about 6 regular artisans and 8 contracted artisans. Noah's Ark provided him with infrastructure for a coloring unit and helped him establish a workshop. He only works for Noah's Ark. He understands the importance of Fair Trade and encourages it amongst his team of artisans.

Bahar Ahmed is based in Sahranpur, which is about 220 kilometeres from Moradabad. He mainly works with wood, and has been working with Noah's Ark for the last 20 years. He employs around 12 people in his workshop. He understands Fair Trade and encourages the idea within his team of artisans. He produces about 50% for Noah's Ark.

Dilshad Husaain is our main artisan for Stainless Steel Cutlary items working from a small town 30 kms from Moradabad. He works with his brother and 8 other artisans. He has achieved success by his hard work and capacity building by Noah's Ark. Fair Trade has given a boost to his turnover and imporved the working conditions of his workshop. Recently a longtime supporter of Fair Trade Tearcraft UK and Noah's Ark donated a dye press machine for his workshop. Noah's Ark is able to provide sustainability to his workshop throughout the year.

Intizar Hussain
Intizar Hussain works in a village located about 35 kilometeres from Moradabad. His speciality is in rope weaving (basket weaving, wire weaving) and recycled materials. He mainly works with women artisans, and encourages to find new projects that involve weaving. He has been working with Noah's Ark for about 8 years. He produces 100% for Noah's Ark. Fair Trade has been a special gift in his life, which has increased sales of his items.

Kamrul Hasan is our main artisan for Iron handicrafts. His recycled bicycle chain items are very popular. He is an active partner in the fair trade movement. After understanding the importance of providing fair working conditions he has been able to improve and renovate his workshop. According to him, “Artisans sustainability is the main factor to spread the message of fair trade, and I am fortunate to have an organization like Noah's Ark, who are showing grass root artisans the importance of their work.”

Khalil Ahmed
Khalil Ahmed's workshop is located about 12 kilometers from Moradabad, his main expertise is in the area of Iron/Molding, Wire, Candle Holders, and Planters. He has been working with Noah's Ark for about 14 years. He understands the impact of Fair Trade and Sustainability because Noah's Ark has financed him in advance to buy raw materials and also invested in new machinery, construction towards a new workshop and a vehicle. He is incharge of producing 100% for Noah's Ark.

Mohamed Shahid
Mohamed Shahid started his workshop 20 years ago. He began with the production of “Chirag” small brass items that are traditionally sold for Diwali. He works with his younger brother, Mohamed Nazim. The casting of the item is done outside his workshop. Inside the workshop he does the shouldering, turning, threading and emery. After working with Noah's Ark he has been able to improve the working conditions around his workshops and is an active voice in the Fair Trade movement. Also Noah's Ark is supporting him to run an evening school for the street children at his house, where his sisters are teaching.

Mohammad Anwar is located in Saharanpur about 220 kilometeres from Moradabad. His speciality is in wood work and designing products. He has been working with Noah's Ark for the last 15 years. Initially, Noah's Ark supported him by fixing his workshop per Fair Trade Standards to meet audit requirements. He currently employs 10 people in his workshop and has a turnover of about 50% for Noah's Ark.

Mohammad Meeraj used to work in different workshops before owning his own. After working with Noah's Ark, he has been able to establish his own workshop alongside his 3 brothers. The workshop is located on the ground floor of the family house. He employs 6 other workers that are paid on a per piece rate. They are paid 15-20% higher because of the fair trade standards set by Noah's Ark. He is an active listener of Fair trade and wants to make his workshop a model for Fair Trade Metal Handicraft products.

Mohd Ishaq
Mohd Ishaq is based in New Delhi, which is about 170 kilometeres from Moradabad. His speciality is in Shellac Work (Lakh work and Bead work). Initially he started working in a backward community with very bad working conditions. Noah's Ark helped him develop a new workshop and introduced the idea of Fair Trade. He is now educated in the area of product safety. He employs about 6 people and produces 100% for Noah's Ark.

Mohd Shanwaj is based in Moradabad. His main work is casting, specially Aluminium. He works with his 2 brothers. He has been working with Noah's Ark for the last 7 years. Noah's Ark helped him set up a furnace, electrical fitting within his workshop, a chiseling machine and a generator. His production is 100% for Noah's Ark. He understands the idea of Sustainability and importance of Fair Trade because he has seen the result of it in his own workshop.

Rahat Hussain is based in New Delhi, which is about 140 kilometeres from Moradabad. His speciality is in Metal Jewelry and designing. He employs about 4 people in his workshop and has been working with Noah's Ark for the last 6 years. Fair Trade has provided him with a new vision for his workshop and has increased sales of his items.

Mohammad Riyaz has 8 regular workers and 7 contracted workers. Most of the workers employed by him are women. He mainly works with mosaic class, beads and MDF boxes. He is an active participant in the fair trade movement, and firmly believes that fair trade is the only way to provide sustainability and always tries to provided work to village women.

Iftikar Hussain
Iftikar Hussain is based in Moradabad. His speciality is in Metal, Brass, and Aluminium Casting. When there was a decline in brass product demand, Noah's Ark trained and introduced him to Aluminium work. Noah's Ark financed him and changed his workshop around. He has been working with Noah's Ark for 12 years, and employs about 6 artisans. He is a big supporter of Fair Trade because it has given him sustainability. He produces 100% for Noah's Ark.

Rajesh Painter
Rajesh is one of our main person doing the hand painting work on different items along with others assciates, who works as a team and share the profit. These are very skilled artisans, migrated from Orrisa and gave a new concept to the metal work of Moradabad.
